If you can manage to read my obscure labels, we enter the area of Dhakla Oasis from the bottom left corner. We attempted twice to access the top of the escarpment without success. After inquiring in the town, we found a guide who claimed to know a back way to the top. We drove for hours in the opposite direction of where we thought we should be going, but in the end it was the only way to get up. At the top, we started to loose tires one after the other. The sharp jagged limestone surface was cutting them to ribbons, even when we drove as slowly as possible.
